Part of the NS Documentation Centre at MARCHIVUM (Mannheim’s Archive, House of City History and Remembrance) is a permanent exhibition on the history of National Socialism in Mannheim. It describes historic events in the city during the Nazi dictatorship, for which interactive media installations and knowledge stations throughout the exhibition provide information and context.
Another core feature of the historical exhibition at MARCHIVUM [...], is the three-dimensional timeline, which connects all the different chapters within the exhibition and allows the visitors to contextualize historical events on the local and international level. We built an easy-to-navigate WebGL-based 3D timeline to let the user browse through the connecting events. Dynamic and editable, the content can be extended and refocused by the curators and be used as a long-lasting archive itself.
